This is going to be more difficult than I thought...

Well, I have started my research. Origins of marriage, origins of the Bible, What we know about gays.... eek.

So even though I feel I am about to herd cats, I think I can offer some good opinions, even if they are just my own (with citations to documentation I find on the web and in books) :-) .

Very soon, I will start posting myths and facts about all I can find and summarize about the origins of this blogs topics. Gays, marriage and religion are so different to most of the "sound bytes" and snippets we typically get. There is SO much more.

Don't give up... I will corral a few cats and we can get down to business...soon.

Why do Gays want to get married?

Well, to answer this we must first know what is marriage. To some, marriage is a magical and sacred institution that is meant to publicly solidify that most wonderful of emotions...LOVE. Yet, love is rarely the final end result of marriage.

Marriage has changed so much over the generations. To hear the deeply religious talk about marriage, one would think that it was decreed by God many generations ago and it has not changed. This is not really the case. Marriage as our culture knows it, is a result of multiple gyrations and changes over years of trial and error. I will attempt to put in perspective, based on the information I can gather, just how much marriage has changed over the years. Bottom line is that marriage is not the unchanging institution that many religious persons would like you to believe.

Greetings!

Well as I am new to blogging, I am sure this one will start up slowly. Once up to speed you should notice things puttering along very nicely.

I have decided to create this blog because of the recent Gay Marriage and Civil Unions ban that recently was approved in Madison. It was a long battle with many many good hearted souls devoting much time and money to fight against the ban. I saw so many harsh and mean comments that were often, quite frankly, wrong. There seems to be several points of view that consistently were hammered on both sides. I just want to put my own view points other there.

This blog is not intended to change anyone's opinion but thoughtful and I mean THOUGHTFUL debate is welcome. This is not a place to attack or attempt to verbally abuse anyone. If your style is to attack, you are not welcome here.
