This is going to be more difficult than I thought...
Well, I have started my research. Origins of marriage, origins of the Bible, What we know about gays.... eek.
So even though I feel I am about to herd cats, I think I can offer some good opinions, even if they are just my own (with citations to documentation I find on the web and in books) :-) .
Very soon, I will start posting myths and facts about all I can find and summarize about the origins of this blogs topics. Gays, marriage and religion are so different to most of the "sound bytes" and snippets we typically get. There is SO much more.
Don't give up... I will corral a few cats and we can get down to business...soon.

Kent,
You certainly did bite off a big chunk! There's a lot fo real estate to cover with such a topic.
Throw us a bone! Let us in on what your researching
Dale
Ha. Thanks Dale. If anyone has good info feel free to send it.
I am going to just start slow and hit the "myths" with some facts that are verifiable with citations. This will not be comprehensive. No novels will arise from this as, well, that has been done. I just want a good place to put some good info that refutes the typical lines that we have flung at us.
One example: Leave marriage as it is and has been since the dawn of time. It has always been a religious union. Interestingly enough... not so.
That is just one example. I will take them one at a time and try to logically and calmly dispell the myth. This won't happen quickly but it will be something we can refer to at anytime.
So that is my goal. :-)
And with each question, we need to ask people "why not?"...as in your one example, even if what they were saying was true (which it's not, as you pointed out), why should you be able to look me in the eye and say "sorry, I know you want to marry the one person in the whole world who is irreplacable to you, but I just don't like it?" How is that acceptable on any level?
